Cabbage is cool

Recently, chefs at the Cayman Cookout were asked to predict which ingredients are about to make a big impact in 2026. One chef, Stephanie Izard, owner of seven restaurants, said, “Cabbage is supposedly going to be the vegetable of the year.

So, here at Four Seasons Fruiterers, we did a little research.

Cabbage is a member of the Brassica family – the cabbage and mustard family – and includes bok choy, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, collard greens, choy sum and kale.

We found Food & Wine says cabbage has received a glow-up. Business Insider and Vogue both declare 2026 the year of the cabbage. Pinterest, the visual search and discovery platform, states cabbage is the new kitchen MVP. Even the BBC is getting in on the cabbage action, saying cabbage is having a moment.
